Dymo Labelwriter Label Software Freezes at startup in Windows 10 - SOLUTION

One of the Windows updates in Window 10 breaks the Dymo Label Software, supplied free with the LabelWriter printer.  This is a known problem, but there is a simple fix for this. Just follow these instructions:

  • (Make sure you are using Label Software 8.5.1 or higher)
  • Go to your Desktop
  • Right click on DYMO Label v. 8 and select Properties
  • Go to Compatibility mode and Run this program in mode for Windows 7
  • Also set the Privilege Level to Run this program as an administrator
  • Click Apply followed by OK

The software should now work fine.  But, if you're still unable to get the software to work please contact Dymo Technical Support (www.dymo.com)

I tried the steps above, plus I tried completely uninstalling. deleting all folders from 3 different locations and 2 entries in the registry. Then I downloaded the newest verison 8.5.3 (with the printer unplugged), restarted machine. Launched the software, plugged in the printer when asked and still the software crashes upon launch.
