Troubleshooting: Can't get the right font size on a LabelManager 160 (LM160)
Q) I just can’t seem to get my font size to print bigger than 12. It says we should have 6 different font sizes and that 9mm tape settings should go up to at least 20 however this prints on 12. We need these for name badges so 12 is way to small.
We have tried changing the tape width settings and have also tried changing the font size settings but we cant seem to get it to give us any option over 12.
A) Please try a factory reset of the machine, that should fix the issue. Follow these instructions:
- switch it off
- [update OCT2017] - REMOVE THE TAPE FROM THE MACHINE
- then press and hold backspace button together with '9' and on/off button
[for labelmanager 160 only]
That's happened to me, too. I inserted a Clip Art Symbol (finger
pointing to the right). After that I can only choose three font
sizes, which are labeled as follows:
"pt " - corresponding to pt 8 (originally)
"pt 1" - corresponding to pt 10 (originally)
"pt 2" - corresponding to pt 24 (originally)
Before this incident I could choose between a font size of 8, 10,
12, 16, 20 and 24 pt.
Unfortunately there is no way to get back the original behavior.
Removing the batteries doesn't work. The factory reset described
here doesn't work either. After performing the factory reset, I
had to choose the language and units, but the available font
sizes remained as described above.
This is very annoying as 8 and 10 pt is too small and 24 pt is
far too large. Therefore my DYMO Label Manager has become
useless.
Can you please try the factory reset again, but make sure you remove the tape first? Please let us know if this works or not.
worked for me
thank you
yay! Thank you! That worked for us too!
Taking the batteries and tape out worked for me. Thank you for your help.
This just happened to me. I don’t use it that much. Just for pantry items. And trust me, I am not good at figuring out these type of things. The same thing happened to me! I pushed one of the wrong symbols and something weird came up. I couldn’t get out of it. I took my instructions out to just get back to normal printing! I need the 24 font for my pantry labels. So I Googled and found this. I actually was getting up to 20. I followed the instructions and it did work for me. I would try it again. I only say that because if it worked for someone like me, I have to believe it would work for you. I have the 160 Model. They say it works for that model. Hope that helps. You need to press the bottoms at the same time.
Thank you so much Lynn, it was not working for me but when I read your reply I tried it again and it worked great. I'm that type of person as well, I can't do it any of that stuff but I figured if you could let me give it another try. Thank you so much
Removing the tape, and resetting using the method described above (switching off and then pressing backspace +9 + power button) fixed this exact problem for me.
Thanks the above suggestion fixed mine as well.
Thanks. This solved my problem as well.
Fixed for me too - thanks (my 3 fonts were 8, 10 and 12). So happy to have my dymo back.
Thank you so much for this information. After a few months of use I could print 1/2 inch labels only in three sizes. I read the manual but found no indication of a reset operation or a way to solve this problem. Fortunately we have google that knows all. Thank you for sharing!
Non of above methods are working for me. I tried factory reset several times. But still I can only print in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 with 1/2” tape. That makes the printer almost useless
What can I do?
If you are still unable to get the printer to work correctly, please contact Dymo Technical Support at www.dymo.com
Thank you very much this reset worked for me...
However, pressing all 3 buttons simultaneously did not work, but pressing Back Space then 9 and then On/Off Button immediately displayed the “ERASE” in the screen.
The factory reset did not work for me. What worked was removing the label tape, then putting back in. On the screen it will give the option of selecting the width size of label. I selected 1/2” for the tape with I am using then select OK. Now I have six font size selections (32, 22, 18, 12, 8, and 6). Hope that helps someone out there.
It took a few tries but the hard reset worked for me! I think getting the reset to activate has something to do with the timing of the button-pressing.
As directed above, I turned my 160 off and took out the tape cartridge. I pressed 9 and Backspace simultaneously, THEN hit the Power button. After this the screen flashed "ERASE." Result! I turned it back on, it asked me to select a language, and bam! I had all my font size choices back again.
The first few times I tried to do all three buttons simultaneously -- I think maybe trying to hit all three is too awkward and causes uneven timing, which the system doesn't read as reset directions.
factory reset didn’t do anything... i just took out the tape and batteries, put it back in, and then all my font options showed up again. first i only had 8, 10, and 12.
Worked for me as well. Thank you for your help!!!
Thanks worked for me too!
Worked great!
